In celebration of the Spring Festival, the Balti Language Orthography Group (BLOG) organized a poetry symposium (Mushaira) in Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, with the support of FLI. The event brought together esteemed poets from both Balti and Urdu languages.
Renowned Balti poet, Afzal Roshan, graced the occasion as the chairperson, while Ashiq Faraz, a distinguished researcher and writer, served as the chief guest. Ali Musa’s inaugural speech highlighted the objectives of the Mushaira and expressed gratitude to FLI for its support in promoting the Balti language.
Engineer Kaleemullah emphasized the vital role of poets and literary organizations in language preservation and stressed the need for further action to promote Balti. Manzur Shidai, a respected social figure, commended FLI’s efforts in standardizing Balti orthography and expressed hope for continued support to the Balti language group in the future.
This event showcased the beauty of Balti language and poetry, fostering a sense of community and cultural pride among the participants. Around a dozen of poets presented their poems in the event.
