Teacher Capacity Building in Mother Tongue Instruction

  • Addressed textbook inconsistencies in Pashto, Hindko, Saraiki, and Khowar by training Curriculum Developers and Reviewers and aligning content with linguistic standards.
  • Trained 100 government primary school teachers in District Upper Chitral to teach Khowar, with 50 female educators among them—strengthening gender-inclusive pedagogical capacity.
  • Enabled 30 teachers from a private school in Lower Chitral, including 17 women, to integrate Khowar into classroom instruction.
  • Built the capacity of 58 government primary school teachers in Dera Ismail Khan to teach Saraiki, with 29 female participants, promoting linguistic equity in southern KP.

Community Mobilization and Institutional Strengthening

  • Facilitated the formation of 23 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to serve as grassroots platforms for indigenous language development.
  • Supported the launch of mother tongue-based preschool programs in six indigenous language communities, laying the foundation for early childhood linguistic empowerment.

Digital Tools for Language Inclusion

  • Developed 15 Android and 15 PC keyboards for indigenous languages, enabling communities to use their mother tongues across digital platforms and social media.
  • Resolved orthographic challenges for 11 language communities, including the creation of new orthographies for 7 languages of northern Pakistan.

Content Development and Academic Recognition

  • Published and supported the publication of 72 books in and about 17 indigenous languages and cultures, enriching local literature and educational resources.
  • Strengthened institutional recognition of indigenous languages by partnering with universities and academic bodies to support documentation and curriculum inclusion.

Research, Documentation, and Advocacy

  • Trained dozens of individuals in language documentation from 26 indigenous language communities, fostering local research capacity.
  • Connected community researchers through workshops, seminars, and conferences, promoting collaboration on lesser-known languages.
  • Co-organized two international academic conferences on indigenous languages in the past three years, amplifying regional voices on global platforms.

Crisis Communication in Mother Tongues

  • Disseminated COVID-19 awareness messages in 15 indigenous languages, ensuring culturally relevant health communication during the pandemic.
